(Glenn) Today we visited our 21st national park of this trip and we agree that it is our favorite. Carlsbad Caverns National Park is hard to describe. Yesterday we enjoyed watching the bats leave the cave but our trip inside was like entering another world. We spent over five hours and walked about 5 miles inside the cave. We entered through the natural entrance and did a self guided tour in all areas allowed and also did a reserved park ranger guided tour of the "King's Palace" area of the cave. Pictures can not do justice to the beauty found in this place. The cave formations and colors are well worth a visit and everyone should visit at least once in their life (we will be back). After leaving the cave, we rode about 300 miles to Ozona, TX and made it in time to see most of the Alabama football game. Heading to San Antonio,TX for a few days in the morning.
(Cathy) Carlsbad Caverns is just absolutely beautiful, like an ice wonderland. Something everyone would love.
After walking about 5 miles and riding 300 miles..I am bushed. When I get off the bike, I'm so stiff I can't bend my knees. I know I look so funny. I walked next door and got something for supper while Glenn watches the Bama game. Nice suite at Holiday Inn. They have popcorn and cookies, at this stage we are not hard to please.
I tell you, this long vacationing is hard work. But has been so much fun and we have seen so many sights. Just mind-blowing at all I have seen.
And, "Wanda"(our gps) took us backroads 100 miles thru Texas oil fields. geez!
