(Glenn) I feel much better today. I had a fever last night and was achy, but at least it only lasted one day ( I was thinking "flu" the way I felt). We rode to Roswell, NM first to have some fun exploring the International UFO Museum. The town is very small and it looks like tourism to see its history regarding the supposed crash of an alien spacecraft in 1947 may be the only thing supporting it. The museum was fun but much less than I was expecting (no reason for me to ever return in the future). We then rode south to Carlsbad Caverns to arrive before the nightly exodus of the bats from the cave. Several hundred thousand to over a million Brazilian free-tailed bats erupted from the mouth of the cave and swarmed through the skies searching for food. It was amazing to see but photographs were not allowed. Tomorrow we will spend most of our day inside Carlsbad Caverns and have a ranger guided tour for some areas.
(Cathy) Glenn had a rough night. I thought "flu" too. But during the night his fever broke. I told him a good nurse was expensive, especially 24 hour care. Nicole told me she didn't want Doc to be sick but we probably needed to come on home.
I love alien movies and now I have a couple of new ones to search for. The bats were fascinating. when they came out of the cave it was like a tornado spitting out bats. Some of them would fly the wrong way but they all got turned around and flew the right way. Photos were not allowed in the ampitheatre but up the trail I did get a couple. I did not disturb the bats. They don't like noise or flashing lights.
Again, we seemed to escape the rain, just a few sprinkles.
