(Glenn) Today we toured San Antonio in a unique way. We did a 2 1/2 hour tour of the town riding a segway. The guide said they were easy to ride and nobody has any problems (but they have never met Cathy before). After about ten minutes of training we were on our way. It was tiring but a lot of fun. We rolled all over downtown and through the riverwalk area seeing old missions and historic government buildings. Our final stop was the famous Alamo. Cathy did well but she is not anxious to sign up for another tour like this anytime soon (see her blog comments on today). We had lunch at Mi Tierra mexican restaurant because we enjoyed the is great recommendation from Kim Shaw many years ago. We are both tired and a little sore so we are resting in our room early tonight. Today will be remembered for years to come.
(Cathy) OK. the truth. I fell off the segway machine going up a hill. Evidently I was not leaning forward enough. Segway stalled and when I stepped off that thing just went whirling around in circles. Not hurt. Rested a minute, got back on. Well, a little while later, we had stopped for a little info session. Glenn says I started rolling, he got out of my way..the next thing I know my head hit the pavement (thank God helmets were required)landed flat on my back..I saw stars, really thought I had broke my back. Rested again, on the pavement, and got back on. Just across the street from their office at the Alamo
, I walked back and the tour guide rolled my litte pink Segway back across the street for me. I thought it was important to keep walking for a while since I was getting more stiff and sore so we walked about a mile to our lunch spot. Ate lunch, came back to hotel, took a pain pill and rested in bed. I can't bend over, hurts to step up, sore, sore, sore. Glenn rubbed "Patsy creme" on my back. Hoping to be better tomorrow. Maybe some time in the hot tub at the hotel will help. My only question to Glenn was did you get a picture of me on the ground?" Our guide said his wife would kill him if he had taken picture but Glenn did take one. I'm too old to be embarrassed. Just had to laugh. Fell off twice in one ride, Pete (our tour guide) is probably still there filling out paperwork.lol
