(Glenn) We managed to make it to the San Diego zoo when it opened this morning. We visited the pandas and polar bears before it got too crowded because I read there can be long lines for these later in the day. The park is huge and probably the best zoo I have ever visited. It was warm and humid and there were a lot of hills in the park to climb (much needed exercise). We got to feed the giraffes and watched an elephant get her pedicure. We covered a lot of ground today so when we arrived at our hotel we crashed for the evening. We plan to explore San Diego for the next couple of days. It looks like an interesting place.
(Cathy) Sooo hot, I feel like I'm back in Alabama. Lucky everyone smelled the same today: bad! I would not sit on the bed until I could take a shower. The giraffes were so much fun. They use their long tongues and politely takes their biscuits from our hand. I feel like I have walked the entire 100 acres of the park. Beautiful zoo. They have buses that take you around for a tour and sky tram that goes from one end to the other. We saw a baby hippo and a baby Panda, baby giraffe. There was also a baby jaguar and mama that were so funny. They also had a dog in the zoo. He was raised with a leopard and they travel to schools and events together- he keeps the wild one calm. There are several pairs in this little ambassador program.
