(Glenn) Today we traveled via a 30 minute ferry trip from Sausalito to San Francisco which gave us a good view of the skyline and close view of Alcatraz Island. We have been here a couple of times in the past but we had to see it again. We spent our day on Fishermans Wharf. It has a carnival-type atmosphere with a lot of interesting attractions, shops, and restaurants. It has to be one of the most interesting places in the country to just "people watch". We had a great lunch with a view of the bay at the Boudin Cafe which is famous for their history of making sour dough breads. Of course we had to visit Gharedelli Square and shared a great Black Forest ice cream sundae. Dinner tonight was wine, cheese, olives, and sour dough bread on a bench by the shore as the sun set after we returned to Sausalito. Tomorrow we plan to leave here and ride more on highway 101 along the cost to Monterey and Carmel where we will be staying at a hotel in Carmel By The Sea.
(Cathy) Seals on Pier 39 were entertaining and cute. they kept pushing each other off their small piers. They just kept flopping back on.
I had the best crab cake ever, beats Fox Valley which has always been my favorite and I almost got my fill of sour dough bread. we bought a small loaf for our picnic dinner tonight. We did a small tour and watched the bread making process. Glenn knew how this alot of this worked from his previous bread making employment.
Also had a local approach us and started discussing how everyone was entitled to all this stuff, bla, bla, too much to list. Very liberal almost socialist. I was very quiet. At the end he asked for a tip..when he left (with no tip) I wanted to give him a tip all right, find out somebody's political views before you ask for a tip!
