(Glenn) Today we spent our time around the central plaza area so Cathy could enjoy more shopping. This morning I went to the pickup area for a Santa Fe city tour and saw a line quickly forming when the tour trolley pulled to the curb. Glad I was there because he only sold 20 tickets and I purchased #17 and #18. It is a busy weekend here because of the balloon fiesta in Albuquerque is bringing so many people to this area. I stood on the curb when we returned and watched all of the people lined up trying to get on the next tour. Sometimes it is more fun to watch the other tourists than the city sites we are here to visit. The tour was interesting and it answered the question I had when I first rode into town. There are no tall buildings in all of Santa Fe. There is an ordinance that does not allow any building to be taller than The Basilica of St Francis. One five story building had to be constructed with two floors underground to remain under the legal height ordinance. After lunch I returned to the room so I would not slow Cathy down as she shopped. We have most of the remaining days of our trip planned and will probably be back at the house on October 22nd. Headed south tomorrow for two days to soak in more hot springs and enjoy a massage Cathy has scheduled for both of us.
(Cathy) Two minutes in a store and Glenn gets the hives.lol But he did get me s surprise from the little bakery. They sell out quickly and when they are gone, they are gone for the day. Raspberry cookie and Black Forest pastry. I had found the little $1.00 cookies, 2 peanut butter and 2 macadamia cookies. Treats for tomorrow too. I did pass up the chocolate shop. $24 a pound is a little steep. Our driver said the rent on some of the stores ran as high as $30,000 per month!!!!!
The trolley took us up to the area where there are hundreds of galleries. Just driving by was fascinating. Most were items you would not see anywhere but Sante Fe. There was a whole yard full of windmill art. We have a couple in our back yard that look similar, wonder if it's the same artist? I told Glenn "they ship!! ". Maybe we can get a closer look tomorrow.
